About the academy

A working repair workshop that also teaches. That is why our teaching is practical.

About

Our story

福建名匠世家名表维修 grew out of a Fujian repair workshop with more than fifteen years at the bench, training apprentices long before it taught internationally.

Fujian is the centre of China's watch component trade: parts and tools a European workshop waits weeks for are a short drive away. That is why our tuition stays low.

Your instructors

Our two lead instructors have thirty years at the bench between them, from quartz to Swiss chronographs. They teach in Mandarin, with every step interpreted live and shown at your bench first.

The workshop

Each student has their own bench for the whole course, with lighting, magnifier and tools. The workshop also has an ultrasonic cleaning line, timegraphers, a water-resistance tester and practice movements.

Why we teach in Mandarin with an interpreter

Almost all watch repair training in China is in Mandarin, which shuts out the rest of the world. Every course has a dedicated interpreter, so you can arrive from anywhere, follow every step, and leave ready to work.

Competition

Where our people judge

Our instructors are invited to judge Fuzhou's municipal watch-industry skills competitions.

Recognition

The trade's recognition of our instructors

Our instructor judged Fuzhou's 2025 municipal competition, another of our team took bronze there, and we sit on the Fujian Watch & Clock Association's council.

What you leave with

What you can actually do when you finish

Take a watch apart, clean it, put it back together and service it - on your own, at your own bench.

That is the claim, and it is narrow on purpose. It does not make you a brand-authorised technician, and it does not make you a chronometer regulator. Nobody who teaches this trade honestly can promise either of those in two to six weeks. What it does mean is that a watch arrives on your bench and you finish the service without turning round for help.

There are no student quotes on this page, and there never will be. We are not going to put words into a student's mouth to sell you a course. Judge us on the things you can check: the twenty-one skills we list, the calibres we name by number, the photographs of the workshop, and the answers we give you on WhatsApp before you pay anything. Nothing is due before you arrive, so ask us and we will show you photographs and video from whichever course is sitting at the benches that month.
